Embra Privacy Policy

Effective Date: January 16, 2026

Embra is committed to protecting your privacy and earning your trust. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you access or use the Embra platform ("Embra", "we", "us", or "our") — including our web application, mobile interfaces, and associated services (collectively, the "Platform").

This Policy is designed to be transparent, compliant, and student-first — especially for users in higher education programs, including pilot schools, sponsored programs, and future partner institutions.

1. What Information We Collect

We collect only the information necessary to support your academic, emotional, and professional development. Information is gathered in two ways:

Information You Voluntarily Provide

  • Mood check-ins (e.g., your daily emotional state)
  • Milestone tracking (e.g., progress on academic goals, bar prep selections)
  • Study materials (e.g., outlines, notes, case briefs you enter)
  • Journals or reflections (optional, never required)
  • Mentorship interests or connections (if this feature is enabled)
  • Account details (name, email, school, graduation year if provided)

We do not collect sensitive government-issued identifiers (e.g., SSN, state ID), nor do we pull academic grades or transcripts from your school without explicit permission.

2. How We Use Your Data

We use the data you provide to personalize your experience and deliver insights that help you manage law school or other graduate-level programs more effectively.

This includes:

  • Generating reminders, mood tracking history, and focus insights
  • Recommending academic or bar-prep milestones
  • Offering feedback loops and emotional trend reports
  • Improving our internal systems through aggregate usage insights

You control what you log. You may update or delete your information at any time.

3. How We Share Data

Your trust is non-negotiable. Here's how data sharing works:

We DO NOT:

  • Sell your data to advertisers or third parties
  • Share your personal identity with schools, sponsors, or mentors without your explicit consent

We MAY:

  • Share anonymized and aggregated trend data with partner schools (e.g., average burnout scores over time)
  • Share anonymous usage data internally to improve product performance
  • Share summary engagement reports with partner institutions (e.g., % of students using a feature), without revealing names, journal entries, or mood data

Pilot Schools & Universities: If you're using Embra as part of a pilot program, your school does not receive any personally identifiable emotional or journal data unless you explicitly opt in.

4. Your Rights and Controls

You always retain control over your data.

You can:

  • View your personal data at any time
  • Edit or delete any journal or milestone entry
  • Deactivate your account
  • Request full deletion of your data from our systems

To submit a request or ask a question, email us at adrianbond@myembra.com.

5. Data Protection & Security

We are committed to industry-standard security protocols:

  • End-to-end encryption (data is encrypted in transit and at rest)
  • Role-based access controls (only authorized personnel can view specific data types)
  • Audit logging and internal oversight for any data access
  • FERPA-aligned practices for all student users

We do not use your data for AI training or profiling without separate consent.

6. Cookies & Analytics

We use basic first-party analytics (such as visit counts and feature usage) to help improve your experience.

We do not:

  • Use third-party advertising cookies
  • Track users across external websites
  • Share analytics data with outside advertisers

7. For Users Under 18

The Embra Platform is designed for use by students enrolled in higher education programs. If you are under 18, you may only use Embra with consent from a parent or legal guardian.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect improvements or legal changes. When we do:

  • We will notify you via email or in-app notification
  • The updated policy will be posted with a new effective date
  • Your continued use of Embra after an update means you accept the revised policy
